You have finished up your training and are ready to do good deeds and earn gold pieces but you aren’t quite sure how to do that. While visiting the local taverns trying to find a job, you hear someone talking about help that is needed at the town of Cillamar. You ask the person about the work, they shrug and repeat that there is work for those who are interested and gold for those who can do the work. More information will be provided at the Slumbering Drake Tavern in the evening on the 20th of Gozran, 7 days from now. You haven’t had any luck finding anything locally so you decide to travel to Cillamar. Cillamar is a bigger town and if this doesn’t work out at least you might find something other job to do.
After a long journey to Cillamar, you enter the gates and look forward to a good night’s sleep in an inn, even if it does use up the last of your silver. You head towards the center of town, where the The Slumbering Drake Tavern is located. You find a large building with a sign with of a sleeping dragon outside so you enter in the doors into a large room, filled with tables and various people of different classes and races.
As you walk further into the room, you look about for some hint of who you are supposed to meet. A bar maid comes up and asks if you need help. You explain to her why you are there and she says “Oh, yes, come over to this table, you can sit with a group until they are ready to meet with you.” She leads you to a table where several others are sitting, drinking and eating a meal. As you sit down another bar maid brings up another person to join you. Before you can sit down, a door on the side of the room open and a large group come out. As the group walks out someone else comes to your table and says “Follow me.” You and the others follow into a smaller room. In the room there is a table where four people are sitting, a female dwarf, a male halfling, a male elf and a female gnome. The dwarf stands and says, “Please, sit, and we will explain what work we might have for you.”
“Welcome and thank you for coming. I am Delra Torrak, a wizard and a member of the Sablewing Council. Our group is looking for help in solving some problems here in Cillamar. Cillamar is a town that has been doing very well until the last few months. Starting last fall, in mid Lamashan, townspeople started disappearing. It seems to have started with a family of farmers that was not heard from for a few weeks, the Genth family. When other family went up to search, they found the farm house empty, with lizard type tracks found in the area. Other people have disappeared, including a wizard’s apprentice a few weeks back in beginning of Dharast. Her familiar was found and one of our members used a speak with animals spell to try and find out more. The familiar senses that she is still alive and that she was taken to some ruins in the hills surrounding the town.”
“The ruins are the remains of Castle Whiterock an outpost of the old Empire. Right now there happens to be a group of monks at the ruins, the monks of the Dawning Sun. This group is trying to find artifacts from a monastery that was also supposed to be located in the same spot many hundreds of years ago. We of the Sablewing Council have tried to find out more information but have been unable to contact the monks, they never seem to be at the ruins when we come to visit.”
“After review and discussion, we have decided that perhaps we have frightened off the monks and that perhaps a less worldly group might have more luck in contacting them to see if they know anything of these disappearances. Many adventurers have shown up over the last few days but none have agree to help us yet. You do not have to accept this task but there are other rewards, such as gold, that we can offer in addition to the satisfaction of a job well done. Will any of you help us?”
You sit back, a bit stunned, after hearing all of this. You have heard rumors of the Sablewing council but thought they were just rumors and old wives tales. The council is supposedly made up of some of the highest members of races and classes in Morrain who help to guide the kingdom and protect it from evil plots. And now you sit in a room with four of the members asking you for help. You look at the rest of the group who also seem a bit stunned and think over on what you want to do.
