31. Starting the Path of Aganhei

Posted on September 13, 2020January 20, 2024 by Brianna

The Storm Peace Keepers completed their preparation for the trip. They also refined skills and abilities and noticed improvements in their ability to travel and attack. Their preparations included upgrading items or buying new ones. They were able to use the loot from Ravenscraeg and their other adventures to improve their abilities and the caravan's ability to survive the long trip over the Crown of the World. Ulf checked on conditions reported and closed out business, as needed. He disliked leaving his sister behind but they both felt she would be a liability and it was best for her to stay behind and keep watch on possible attacks on the caravan from the city of Kalsgard.

After a little over a week, everyone was prepared for cold weather and with supplies to help them through the journey. They started travel through the northern part of the Linnorm Kingdom, the Thanelands, to the Stormspear Hills. They followed the hills, gradually making their way through the Arctic circle, eventually reaching the start of the Aganhei path. This part of the journey took 15 days and was uneventful.

n

The Aganhei path started, leading the group through a pass in th Rimethirst Mountains. On the other side, they saw harsh land, only slightly softened by the slow beginning of spring for this part of the world. While there were patches of spring showing, snow still covered many parts of the land and the caravan slowly continued its way north. The Aurora Lights were visible, the green glow an eerie sight for those who had not traveled so far north.

n

During one day of travel, the group spotted a strange blue-green light, moving at high speeds. While they watched, the light grew closer and a strange flying creature flew over the group. It attacked with a sonic blast. Everyone quickly moved together and blasted at the creature as it hovered above them. With so many attacking, and with fiery attacks against this creature of cold, it quickly dropped from the sky, dead. It looked like some strange reptile with wings, feathers and a beak full of teeth. After checking the creature for any other oddities, they found nothing. The caravan continued their travel north. The session ended here.
