01. Storm Peace – The Group Meets

Posted on May 19, 2011January 11, 2025 by Brianna

The adventure began with four travelers on a road seeking shelter as a storm began. A tower stood out on a hill that looked like it had an overhang underneath that could provide some shelter from the lightening and winds that had swept in. As the four gathered underneath the shelf they declared storm peace amongst themselves. Storm peace is an ancient custom where parties that are threatened by the extra strong storms of the area declare they will sit in peace in shelter, at least until the storm passes.

A human cleric, Darsus, introduced himself and asked ‘Storm peace?’ of the other three. Cendrine, a  dwarven fighter, agreed, as well as Sheliak, a halfling ranger and Danicia, a half elf rogue. After introductions, the party noticed a stone door in the side of the hill. A large stone, 15 feet across, lay shattered on the ground, with blackened bits that showed evidence of being blasted apart by lightening at some point in time. The storm was increasing in strength, blowing a cold wind and the party decided to see if the doors could be opened and find better shelter.

The doors could be opened and the group went inside to find a stout, stone shelter. With the storm raging outside and rattling the large stone doors, the group decided to explore the area. They found doors but were unable to open them. After a very loud burst of thunder, all 3 doors shook and fell down. With the doors opened, the group went exploring and found a swarm of frightened rats, hobgoblins, a bat like creature, a large poisonous spider, a trapped chest and an undead knight. After defeating these various threats and gathering the treasure, the group gathered again in the front chamber where they entered. As they waited they could hear the storm dropping off and finally moving off. As the group left, they decided to stay together in case there were other dangers. Sheliak was familiar with the area and recommended they go to Cillamar. The group headed off in that direction, enjoying a walk in the fresh world left behind by the storm.
