The Sablewing Council is a group of high level adventurers that work behind the scenes to protect the land of Morraine. Only the very best are invited to join in the council and anyone who is a member has survived many dangerous encounters during their adventuring career.

The council normally likes to work behind the scenes in order to minimize the danger to their members from the various evil threats that have arisen. Due this secrecy and the association with disastrous events not all citizens of Morrain view the council with good intentions. Some villagers warn of children being stolen by the council for their secret rituals, others tell of deadly events occurring after council members have been sighted in an area. Most of these rumors are started by the foes of the council in order to explain away their evil deeds and ensure that council members receive little support from the people of Morrain.

In the last few years their has been an increase in the unrest in Morrain. While some of this unrest is due to wars in neighboring lands and the increase of trade, there is an uneasiness among the council members that there is more to the incidents. The newly revitalized Cillamar seems to be a focal point for much of the activity, however, despite their experience the Sablewing Council has been unable to find out more information.
n
During many discussions about the inability to find more about their enemy the council has come up with a new idea to try and find information on what foe they may be facing. It appears that their enemy is alerted by their high levels of experience somehow so they want to try and have adventuring groups with less experience attempt to make their way in to gather data.

With rumors of increased activity at the old Castle Whiterock outside of Cillamar, the council sent out a notice looking for adventurers to help clear out the castle. The council would provide backing to the group to adventure and wait for reports of what they found. This adventuring would also clear out some of the troublesome groups that were causing chaos within Cillamar and the surrounding areas. However, the council would not enter the castle in order to avoid triggering the forces that were guarding against their surveillance. It was already known by high level wizards that the area around the castle prevented the summoning of certain creatures, who knew what other protective forces might come into play if any of the council members tried to enter the castle. There had already been a group of council members lost within the castle when they attempted to explore its secrets so they were wary of the protections that might be in place.

While the council hoped for several groups, only enough less experienced adventurers stepped forward to create one group for exploring the castle. So far the group had performed great service for the town of Cillamar by clearing out the orcs and humans that had been capturing slaves, however, based on the limited amount of information the council could gather, there was still more evil lurking within the depths below the castle…
