49. I See You! Wait, Where’d You Go?

Posted on January 2, 2026January 2, 2026 by Brianna

The session began with the group preparing for the next actions. While they were discussing attacking the gorgons in the pit, their prisoner, Ichirou, collapsed and started bleeding out. It was as if he had released of some animating force that had held him upright. After he dropped, Darsus said that while he might know more of the dungeon that knowledge was not worth the possibility of leaving him free to do more harm. The group agreed and Seoni suggested using him for a distraction when they went to fight the gorgons.

They took a few seconds to prepare for battle, then flew down below, including a spell to allow them to enter the gas safely. When prepared, one by one they moved down towards the gorgons. The gas hid the gorgons and them from view so they had some difficulty pinpointing their targets. When ready, Seoni dropped Ichirou and as his body thumped at the bottom the gorgons both attacked. While they were distracted, the other either flew in or used other abilities to drop safely down to the floor for the fight. While not every blow hit, due to the gas, the group quickly took out the gorgons before they could damage the attackers. Seoni was able to clear out the gas and it was agreed that the pit provided a good hiding place for the group for a meditation. Seoni cast a spell for safe place and the casters took time to meditate. While Darsus restored all of his spells, the others searched the rooms and the remaining bodies. Four of the bodies which fell into the pit had been turned to stone, but two of the sisters were left for the group to search. The group also cut off the gorgon horns to save for spell casting. The casters had remembered that gorgon horns could be ground up and used in several spells, including stoneskin, a spell that Darsus was familiar with.

After their exploration and preparation, the group moved down the long corridor filled with scenes of anger and violence. Sandru and Danicia set the pace and found a door at the end of the hall. They carefully opened it and spied an empty room. With a careful step in, they could see another room and movement in that room and another room beyond it. They shared this with the group who slowly moved up. However, despite their attempts to move quietly, they were detected by the hob warriors in the room.

When they moved in, they could see two more warriors and a large humanoid in the other room. All of the warriors started moving towards the group while the large humanoid blinked out as they watched. Sandru and Danicia flew into the second room and started attacking the warriors. The others started moving into position as the hob warriors moved towards their group.

The large humanoid appeared at the north end of the room and appeared to call magic. Sandru fell to the floor, not moving, after it appeared that a spell was cast. Seoni flew in and kicked Sandru as she moved towards the large being. Darsus moved into help and Danicia continued attacking the warriors. Cendrine, Sheliak and Ulric also moved into help take care of the warriors. The hob warriors attacked with arrows but with little effect against the group. Seoni attempted to cast a spell against the large hob but he was able to avoid it. He turned invisible again while the group continued to attack. When he next appeared, a wave of cold washed over the group. Most were able to fight off some or all of its effects but for once Danicia was not able to duck out of the way. Despite her damage, she continued fighting on along with the others. Seoni was able to cast a spell on the large humanoid that kept him from fully disappearing if he turned invisible again.

However, he did not succeed, Sandru took vengeance on him with sneak attack damage. The other hob warriors were also quickly taken down after a few more attacks. The group took time to heal up and took a quick look at the room the large hob had been in. They found a few treasures and noticed a door leading into a tunnel that appeared to go down. The session ended here.
