50. Time to Flush These Monsters Down the Drain

Posted on January 15, 2026January 15, 2026 by Brianna

After the group healed up and did a quick search, they entered into a rough cavern with a spiral walkway next to a waterfall. The water drained to the bottom of a cavern which could not be seen by the group. The walkway and the waterfall spiraled down, a narrow pathway all that lay between the group and a watery death far below. Fortunately the group was flying so the danger was minimal, at least from the walkway.

Carefully the group made their way down, with Sandru and Sheliak leading the way and the others following behind. They wound their way through the dark, checking for traps and monsters. Sandru realized the walkway itself was supposed to be the trap for parties without dexterity or flight. With the water roaring next to them, it made it difficult to hear anything ahead of them. They had moved down a hundred feet when they sensed something on the ceiling above them. Seoni used her powers to quickly spread the news in a quiet way to the rest of the group.

With this news, the rogues, the fighter and the ranger quickly moved in on the three opponents. They were more of the sisters of the monk order they had fought earlier. While the sisters were nimble and quick, they were no match for the fighters even in the narrow corridor. They were quickly dispatched. Seoni stood by to capture the bodies so they did not wash down the waterfall. Darsus provided support for the battle and healing as needed.

With these enemies taken out, the group made their way to the bottom of the waterfall. It opened out into a pond with stones placed for crossing. The pond emptied out of the cavern but none of the exits looked useful for moving forward. They found a small opening at one end and moved towards it. As they did so, another sister moved out to attack and found the group more than willing to take her on. Another sister bounded out on the rocks for what appeared to be no purpose. However, when she landed, the cavern was filled with shrieking that threatened to confuse the group and make them easy prey. However, everyone in the party was able to find the ability to tune out the cacophony of confusion all around them.

In spite of the noise, the group moved in on the attacking sister. Unlike the others of her order, she was easy to see and easy to take down. In the meantime, the other one bounded to yet another rock and set off another wail of sound from the walls around them. The group was able to fight off this attack on their senses and finish off one of the monks. There was one final burst of sound, however, the group overcame it one last time and quickly took down the monk.

The group carefully entered the beach area and moved up steps. In the darkness they could make out a large humanoid mounted on a gorgon. As Cendrine approached him, he singled her out and said “I will fight you, you are an honorable opponent.” As he said this, he seemed to gain some power of attack against Cendrine although he seemed more open to attack from others. He struck fearsome blows against the might dwarf yet she still stood. The rest of the group quickly moved in, although they kept their distance as best they could. Tumbling helped them to try and avoid attacks yet they also received fearsome blows.

He continued to attack Cendrine, despite the damage he was taking. Seoni recalled that creatures of his type could regenerate unless they were hit with fire or acid. While it was humble, an alchemist’s fire did do damage against him and his mount. Everyone moved in and attacked since they could see that even Cendrine would not last long against his fury. With everyone focused on him, they took him down completely. His mount attempted to attack once he lost his rider but he was no more successful against the group.

After confirming that the humanoid could no longer regenerate, the group moved together so their wounds could be healed. After this healing, they noticed a door in the hall. Sandru carefully checked the door and found it unlocked and it appeared to be untrapped. When opening the door it appeared to be the lair of the humanoid with a few treasures within. It was unpleasant to enter due to the living rug of crawling creatures, but despite the fearsome appearance they came to no harm when the crunched them beneath their feet.

The group started to prepare for moving down the hall. The session ended here.
