Only a few years from middle age, Sandru Vosk is a charming man, handsome and irreverent in precisely the ways that could have made him a highly successful con artist, The death of his parents during a violent storm, while tragic, was ironically just the thing to save Sandru from life as a rogue in the Warrens, for while his older brother was old enough at the point to strike out on his own (and thus fell in completely with the the Rogue's guild), Sandru was still a young child. His care fell to Koya Mvashti, a family friend and practically an aunt to the young Sandru. Under her guidance and support, Sandru managed to avoid falling in with the less savory aspects of the rogues, and when he grew of age, he instead sought employment as a caravan guard.

For several years, Sandru avoided returning to Cillamar, but he eventually returned, with funds he had collected on his caravan adventures. He bought his own caravan, after which he invited Koya to join him on his journeys, knowing she wanted to see more of the world. He and Sophia developed a friendship when his caravan escorted her up to the capital of Morrain, Galaraon, to be introduced to the King's court. There was a storm on the trip back and while stopped the caravan was attacked by a large bandit group. Sandru rallied together the guards and fought off the attack. At one point he was in the right place to protect Sophia from an arrow attack although he was wounded while protecting her. Sophia helped in caring for him on the trip back and continued to check up on him as he recovered while home in Cillamar. Although there is a gap in their social status Sophia and Sandru are both comfortable with each other and still visit so Sandru can 'catch up on all that noble's gossip' as he calls it.

Recently Sandru was traveling with a caravan when a passenger, an older man, disappeared when they were a days travel from Cillamar. He helped to track the man to the swamp but gave up when the foot prints disappeared into the mud and muck. He has volunteered to show the Storm Peace Keepers where the tracks faded out. He also knows that other people and animals have disappeared on caravans in the past few months. Because of this he is interested in helping to find out what is happening since it may eventually threaten his caravans in the future
