After securing their rooms for the night, the group settled in and had a peaceful night. The next morning, they asked around about the black feather they had found. With Sophia's help, they find out that the feather is associated with a Thieve's guild called the Frozen Shadows. The guild has risen to prominence in recent years and they leave a black feather as their calling card. They also find out more information about the Rimerunner's guild. The guild is headed by a merchant called Thorborg Silverskorr, but she is rarely seen in public. She has numerous connections with the powerful in Kalsgard, including Linnorm King Sveinn Blood-Eagle. Their guild is located in the Jade Quarter and always has guards on duty.

While the Storm Peace Keepers were collecting information, Kelda Oxgutter said her farewells to the group. She thanked them all for their help but said that she was ready to return to her family, she had had enough adventuring for a while. After saying the good byes, a sorcerer in the corner signaled that she was interested in the group. She was in town, looking for a group to travel with and wondered if the Storm Peace Keepers might be interested. After some demonstration of her powers and Danicia's and Sheliak's skills, there was some tension. In the meantime, Sandru had come to the tavern to see how things were going before returning to his caravan.

While Seoni and the Storm Peace Keepers were talking, someone ran in, telling of destruction and a large monster attacking the temple of Shelyn. The group ran out into the street and they could see and hear the signs of a disturbance by the temple. They quickly made their way over and found an earth elemental attacking the temple and tearing at the walls. Several bodies lay in the street and the town guard had responded to the attack. The group quickly moved in for an attack, while Darsus flew above the area.

Danicia, Cendrine, Sandru, and Sheliak moved into an alley on the side of the building while Seoni stayed back to help. The elemental continued attacking, striking out at the guards who moved into position. As the group watched, one of the guards was thrown back against a wall while the other guards moved in front of the building.

As the fighters moved into place, the group was attacked by invisible humans. Two of them attacked Dancia and two of them attacked Seoni. Danicia was able to stay up but Seoni was gravely injured and had to retreat in order to not die. Darsus flew in and then used his cleric abilities to safely transfer Seoni and himself to a safe location. The fighters continued moving against the elemental and the new attackers while the town guards continued attacking the elemental.

After healing Seoni, Darsus and Seoni joined the battle. The fighters focused on the human attackers and gradually whittled them down. Danicia took a great deal of damage but stayed up and able to trade quips with Sandru. Sheliak took the opportunity to attack the elemental and with this focused force, the attackers and elemental were quickly dispatched.

After the battle, the group consulted with the guards and the priest of the temple. The priest had been knocked unconscious during the attack, which had started only moments before the group showed up. The priest said that right before the attack he saw a large raven with a blood-red feather across the street. He said that a bird like that was considered a powerful omen but he did not see where it went. The guards checked the attackers bodies and they found evidence that they were probably associated with the Frozen Shadows.

After the group healed up, they went back to the tavern. After they got there, Darsus heard a voice speaking to him from the helm he wore. The helm told him that it was really a cassisian angel named Helgarval. He said that he was a servant of Desna and he was trying to do good deeds in order to return to his home plane of Elysium. After seeing Darsus and the group battle the elemental, he felt the group were on the side of good and he wanted to help them. Darsus finds out that the Rimerunners guild is a front for the Frozen Shadows. The Frozen Shadows are agents of the Five Storms oni from Minkai. He also tells them that a blood feather raven is the familiar for a spell caster, Goti Runecaster, who is a close associate of Thorborg Silverskorr.

When the group gets this information, they decide that it is time to check out the Rimerunners guild. Sandru offers to go with the group since he knows where they are located. He can also offer an explanation for their visit, getting cargo for his caravan, so they can reduce suspicion of what they are looking for. The group visits the Rimerunner guild, but the clerks do not know of any sword being sold or where the guide Ulf Gormundr might be. They do not normally work with Ulf because he does not work well with others. The group went back to the inn after their visit. The session ended here.
